Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, October 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, October 5, 2021:

The frontal system that has been in place since Sunday will remain over the area today, but in a weakened state.

Skies will be mostly cloudy from start to finish. Any glimpses of sunshine will be few and far between and will only last a few moments.

However, the rain will be less than in days past, with mostly just a few isolated showers from time to time. The morning looks to have a better chance for these showers than the afternoon, though showers will continue to be possible even into the early evening.

Winds will remain light and variable with speeds under 5 mph.

Temperatures will be similar to the last couple days as well with afternoon highs in the mid 60s. Dewpoints will not be far behind, making it feel muggy by October’s standards.

Clouds will remain in place tonight and some areas of locally dense fog may develop as well. The chances for rain will diminish during the evening and much of the overnight should be rain-free.

Nighttime temperatures will settle in the upper 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Cloudy with some late sun. Maybe a few stray showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Thursday: Sun, clouds, and maybe a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
