Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, October 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, October 21, 2021:

A cold front will approach the area today bringing some late showers to the area.

Clouds out ahead of the front began building in last night but will mainly remain high in the atmosphere through the early afternoon. The sun may partially shine through these clouds, and a few breaks of full sunshine will also be possible.

A stray shower may be possible early on this morning, but most areas will not see any rain until the late afternoon. Scattered showers will then move in and continue into the evening hours. A couple rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out.

Winds will be from the southwest out ahead of the front with speeds around 10 mph. These winds will persist into the evening but should change to the northwest shortly before dawn as the front moves through.

It will again be mild today even without full sunshine thanks to the southerly winds ahead of the front. Look for afternoon highs to reach the mid 60s. Evening temperatures will hold in the mid 50s and will not drop further until the front moves through just before dawn.
