Press release from the NRA Foundation.

The NRA Foundation has awarded the McGraw High School Clay Target League Team a grant valued at approximately $2,600 in the form of twenty-six cases of ammunition to benefit the team. "We are very excited about the grant supporting our team," said the coaches," and pleased that the NRA is making an investment in our school community."

The team is currently anticipating their third season since it began in 2019. Competitions in 2020 were cancelled due to the pandemic. McGraw had a successful 2021 season placing third in their Conference.  Mason Allen scored second overall within the Conference.  At the state level (held virtually), McGraw placed seventh out of 74 teams.  Graduating Senior, Lucas Allen placed third in High Gun Varsity Male.  At the national level, McGraw was represented by eight students who travelled to Michigan for the National Tournament: Blake Weeks, Zander Weeks, Ben Stull, Blake Bergey, Jaydon Bassett, Mason Allen, Lucas Allen, and Lindsey Watrous.

The team is meeting as a club prior to the start of the Spring Competition Season. This year’s participation is expected to exceed last year’s number of twenty-five students. Several families have more than one student involved, as membership is open to all students in 7th through 12th grades. The students are very happy that the grant is providing a large portion of the ammunition needed for their practices and competitions and are eager for this coming Spring season.  Melinda McCool, Superintendent of Schools remarks, “The Clay Target team is one of the fastest growing extra-curriculars in our high school. We are very grateful to the NRA for the support of our team.”
