Marathon Lady Olympians Win Season’s First Game vs. Dryden

The Marathon Lady Olympians started the season with a 1-0 record after defeating Dryden 66-33 on the road Wednesday night.

It was a close first quarter that ended with Marathon taking a 15-11 lead.

“Dryden came at us in the first quarter with a defense geared to stop Brooke (Tillotson), and Abby (Ensign) stepped up just like she was supposed to,” stated Marathon Head Coach Andrew Pierce. “It was fun to watch."

Marathon’s defense stepped up to hold Dryden to five points in the second quarter. The Olympians had a 20-point lead (36-16) at the end of the half.

The Olympians’ offense, led by Tillotson, continued to distribute the ball well to ultimately win the game.

Marathon was led by Tillotson (28 points, 11 steals, 9 rebounds, 8 assists & 1 block), Abby Ensign (26 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist & 1 steal), and Paige Hurlburt (4 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals & 1 assist). Tillotson was one rebound and two assists shy of a quadruple-double.

"We have multiple scoring threats this year,” said Coach Pierce. “She (Tillotson) will be able to score or distribute, and she did that tonight."

Dryden’s top scorers included Lauren Guilini (15 points) and Ava Henry (11 points).
