Marathon Residents, Parents Expressed Concern About State Mask Mandate at MCSD BOE Meeting (Video Included)

The Marathon Central School District Board of Education held a public input session at its meeting on Wednesday, where several Marathon residents and parents expressed concern about New York State’s current mask mandate in schools.

Near the end of last month, NYS supreme court judge Thomas Rademaker in Nassau County ruled the statewide mask mandate unconstitutional. The state followed up by following an appeal of the ruling, which granted them a temporary stay order as they go through the process.

Residents and parents of Marathon questioned whether the MCSD Board of Education will have a mask mandate or not if the statewide mask mandate is officially lifted. The crowd at the meeting, however, did express their support for the BOE since the mask mandate is out of their hands.
