Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, February 20, 2022:

High pressure along the Mid-Atlantic coast will provide sunshine and warming temperatures to the area today.

The best chance for some clouds will come this morning as some thin clouds high in the atmosphere pass through the region. No precipitation will fall from these clouds.

The afternoon will turn out mostly sunny with few if any clouds. Clear skies will persist into the evening hours before some more thin clouds work in after midnight.

With the clockwise flow of air around the center of high pressure, winds will be steadily from the south throughout the day. It may be a bit breezy at times, with speeds of 10-15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.

The strongest winds will come early in the evening with a few gusts exceeding 30 mph, especially over the higher elevations. Winds will then begin a slight turn to the southwest.

This southerly flow will undo the cold brought in by the recent cold fronts. After starting chilly this morning, highs should reach the mid or even upper 30s this afternoon, which is slightly above the climatological average for the day.

Evening temperatures will dip to near 30 degrees with upper and mid 20s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Cloudy. Afternoon rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
