Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, February 22, 2022:
An area of low pressure will push a warm front through late today, followed by a cold front early Wednesday.
Clouds will increase and thicken this morning, though a few glimpses of sunshine will be possible. Skies will be overcast through the afternoon, evening, and overnight.
Rain showers will push in from the west during the early afternoon. At first, the rain showers will be scattered, but steadier rain will fall during the second half of the afternoon.
Rain will become more scattered again as the warm front moves through during the early evening. On and off showers can be expected through the night.
Rainfall amounts should be under an inch, but some localized minor flooding or ice jams will be possible.
Winds will be out of the south at 10-15 mph throughout the day. This evening, behind the warm front, the wind will shift to the southwest, maintaining its speed. Gusts of 30-40 mph will be possible, with the highest gusts coming this evening over the higher elevations.
Temperatures may briefly reach the low 50s during the midday hours before the rain arrives. Once it begins to rain, temperatures will retreat to the mid 40s by the late afternoon.
As the rain departs and southwest winds take over, temperatures will return to the low 50s throughout the night. The cold front should arrive around sunrise Wednesday, causing a quick drop into the 40s.

Wednesday: A few morning showers. Maybe a litte afternoon sun. Morning temperatures falling into the mid 40s, then remaining steady into the early afternoon. A further fall into the 30s is likely for the late afternoon.
Thursday: Some clouds. Maybe a few flurries. Morning lows in the mid 10s. Afternoon highs around 30.
Friday: Snow, possibly mixing with ice in the morning. Morning lows around 20. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.
Saturday: Maybe a morning flurry. Then some sun. Morning lows around 10. Afternoon highs in the low 20s.
