Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, February 28

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, February 28, 2022:

High pressure will build in today for a quiet end to February.

Skies will be a mixture of sunshine and periodic clouds today. This morning, some clouds off Lake Ontario will be possible. This afternoon, clouds higher in the atmosphere will stream out ahead of a push of milder air.

No precipitation is excepted during the daytime hours or this evening, but a few flurries may be possible after midnight. Little if any snow accumulation is expected.

With the high passing overhead, winds will be on the light side today. Through the morning hours, northwest winds will blow at around 5 mph. The wind will become light and variable in the afternoon, especially during the latter half.

Evening winds will come back up to around 5 mph as they start from the east and turn to the south. After midnight, south winds will be firmly in place with speeds increasing to around 10 mph. 

With the northwest winds in place, it will not be an overly warm day. Temperatures will top out about 10 degrees below average in the low 20s. 

Evening temperatures will fall into the upper single digits, but once the south wind kicks in, warmer air will quickly return. By Tuesday morning, it may once again be in the low 20s.

Tuesday: More clouds than sun. A few late flurries. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Wednesday: More clouds than sun. Evening and overnight light snow. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s. 

Thursday: Becoming sunny. Morning lows in the low 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 10s.

Friday: Lots of sun. Some late clouds. Morning lows near 0. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
