Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, March 7, 2022:

A frontal boundary will continue to move back and forth through the region today.

The movement of the front will be aided by an area of low pressure riding along the front. Ahead of the low, southerly winds will push the front north, but then behind the low, northwest winds will push it back to the south.

Temperatures are on the cooler side this morning with the front to our south. Southeast winds will turn to the south and increase to around 10 mph.

This will allow the front to clear the county, pushing temperatures into the mid 50s for a time this afternoon. Once winds turn to the northwest late this afternoon, it will be a quick drop back to the 30s.

The low will also spread rain into the area. Much of the morning will be rainy, with on and off periods of rain in the afternoon. Rainfall amounts could be over an inch, which would cause some localized areas of minor flooding.

Rain will turn to snow showers this evening, followed by some spotty lake effect overnight. Most areas will see little to no accumulation, but locally an inch or so could accumulate.

The northwest winds this evening behind the low will have speeds up to 15 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph. Temperatures will end up in the mid 20s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Tuesday: Cloudy with snow showers, especially in the morning. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows near 20. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Thursday: Early sun giving way to clouds. A few late shower or flurries possible. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 50s.
