Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, March 9, 2022:

Low pressure along the Mid-Atlantic coast will clip our region with some steady snow today.

The snow will break out during the early to mid morning hours, falling lightly at first. The snow will continue into the afternoon, picking up in intensity as it does so.

Snow will end abruptly early this evening as the low pulls away. Accumulations should be on the order of 2-4 inches, with the highest amounts in the hilltops.

Winds will be out of the southeast much of the day with speeds around 5 mph. Late this afternoon, the wind may go calm briefly before turning to the west for the evening and overnight. Nighttime wind speeds will also be around 5 mph.

Temperatures will hover between 32-35 degrees today as the snow falls. The above freezing temperatures should help roads stay in fair to good condition.

Evening temperatures will remain in the low 30s before finally slipping back into the mid 20s as skies clear. Some locally colder pockets are possible.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Sun and thin clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Friday: Increasing and thickening clouds. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Saturday: Snow, possibly heavy. Windy with blowing snow. Early morning temperatures in the mid 20s, but afternoon temperatures in the upper 10s.

Sunday: Scattered snow showers. Morning lows near 10. Afternoon highs in the mid 20s.
