Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, March 20, 2022:

Cool air will return to the area today behind last night’s cold front.

As low pressure gradually pulls away today, it will remain cloudy and unsettled. Rain and snow showers will be off and on through the morning and first half of the afternoon.

Late in the afternoon, the precipitation should taper off. A little late sunshine may even be possible. Skies will become clear this evening and remain as such through the overnight.

Winds will be primarily from the west this morning and will become northwesterly this afternoon. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph with gusts of 20-25 mph.

These winds will bring cooler air into the area. Coupled with the thick clouds and precipitation, temperatures will mostly hold steady in the low 40s through the morning and early afternoon. During the later afternoon, a drop into the mid and upper 30s is likely.

Even though skies will clear tonight, temperatures will not be quick to drop. It will be a slow decline through the 30s to an overnight low near 30 degrees.

Monday: Sunshine early, then some clouds late. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Tuesday: Clouds and some filtered sunshine. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Thursday: Scattered rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
