Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (April 28th)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:

Varsity Boys Lacrosse: Homer vs. Jordan-Elbridge

The Homer boys lacrosse team defeated Jordan-Elbridge 18-6 Thursday night in order to improve to a 6-3 record.

The Homer Trojans were led by Reid Partis (5 goals), Hunter Riehlman (3 goals & 1 assist), Jake Calabro (2 goals & 3 assists), Evan Butts (2 goals), Michael Stiles (2 goals), Wyatt Wilbur (2 goals), Sam Sorenson (1 goal & 1 assist), and Tucker Gabriel (1 goal). 

All 6 of Jordan-Elbridge’s goals were scored by Wade Brunelle; 2 of which were assisted by Bryan Tanner. 

Up next, Homer will host Westhill this upcoming Tuesday (May 3rd) at 5pm. 

Varsity Softball: Cortland vs. Syracuse

The Cortland Lady Tigers beat Syracuse in both games of a double-header on Thursday. They won the first game 11-2, and the second game 2-1.

Varsity Softball: Homer vs. Phoenix

The Homer Lady Trojans beat Phoenix 21-14 at home Thursday evening in order to improve to a 2-6 overall record.

Varsity Boys Tennis: Homer vs. Chittenango

The Homer Trojans beat Chittenango with an overall score of 3-2.

Homer is now scheduled to host Cazenovia today (April 29th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Baseball: Homer vs. Solvay

The Homer Trojans lost 1-3 against Solvay, bringing their record down to 7-3. 

Homer was led by Tanner Douglass (1 run & 2 hits), Tristan Allen (1 hit, 1 RBI & 1 strikeout thrown), Zander Johnson (2 hits), Jon Barnes (2 hits), Ian Gilbert (1 hit), and Mitchell Earle (10 strikeouts thrown). 

Solvay was led by Zachery Balduzzi (2 hits & 1 RBI), Samuel Gonzalez (1 hit & 1 RBI), Jaylen King (1 run), Stephen Bagozzi (1 run), Daniel Mrowinski (1 run), Jonathan Gonzalez Perez (2 hits), and Daniel Mrowinski (3 strikeouts thrown). 

Up next, Homer will host Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday (April 30th) at 2pm.
