Cortland County Sheriff’s Office: Man gets into accident, charged with DWI

A City of Cortland man was found to be intoxicated following a single motorcycle accident on Sunday, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

According to the report, sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident at 2:41 p.m. Sunday, which took place on Interstate 81 in the city. 

The report states that Anthony J. Minielli, 46 of Cortland, the operator of the motorcycle that was in the accident, was discovered to be intoxicated. Sheriff’s deputies also found that Minielli was operating the motorcycle with a suspended New York State license.

Minielli was transported to the Upstate University Hospital, where he was treated for “non-life threatening injuries,” the report notes.

Minielli has been charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (both misdemeanors); and consumption/alcohol in motor vehicle, improper plates, uninspected motor vehicle, speed not reasonable and prudent, operating out of class, unsafe tire, no/distinct plate, driving across hazard markings, an unregistered motor vehicle and operating with insurance (all traffic infractions).

Minielli was issued appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in city court at 9 a.m. June 27 for arraignment.
