Today will be a day of transition as cooler air starts to make its way back into the area.

An initial cold front moved through the area overnight and a second front will move through tonight.

Much of the day will have sunshine, though. Fair weather clouds will also be common, and a few brief afternoon showers or light thunderstorms will be possible.

Many areas will not see rain, and those that do should see it raining for less than 30 minutes.

Behind the initial front, northwest winds have taken hold. These winds will build to speeds near 15 mph by the late morning and will persist through the afternoon. Top gusts should be just over 30 mph.

Temperatures will be cooler than yesterday, but not nearly as chilly as tomorrow. Highs should make it to the mid or upper 70s. Dewpoints will be comfortable in the 50s.

Skies may be clear at first this evening, but clouds will increase by midnight as the second front moves through. Another stray shower or two will be possible.

Clouds will hang on through the rest of the night as temperatures fall to the upper 40s. Northwest winds will remain blustery.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Clouds through the early afternoon, then some sun. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, possibly with morning rain and thunder. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
