Stone announced her impending departure via the MCSD Facebook page, as she dedicated the post to her students, faculty and staff (past and present):

“It has been an honor to serve as superintendent to the students, staff, and community members in Marathon. Over the past 11 years, I have been made to feel as if I were a member of a very large family. Our faculty and staff have worked tirelessly to provide the education our students deserve. I am proud of the progress we have made toward the goals in our strategic plan. I am grateful for the kindness and compassion our students and staff displayed during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am honored by the patience and understanding our community has shown as our district strived to provide the best educational environment possible during very trying times. I would like to thank each board of education member (as well) who I have worked with over the past 11 years. Your trust in the leadership and staff at Marathon has helped our district to grow.”

Stone also wishes the Marathon community well as she will soon move on to her new position.
