Two individuals stole items from a local business on Route 11 in the Town of Cortlandville, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

According to the report, Joshua J. Morris, 43, and an unidentified individual stole copper wire from the Suit-Kote Corporation in Cortlandville. Morris and the individual then proceeded to flee on foot through a field, the report notes.

Morris was located by New York State Police and arrested without incident, but the other individual was not located or identified, the report states.

Morris has been charged with third-degree grand larceny – a Class-D Felony. He was processed, arraigned and sent to county jail without bail, where he awaits a Cortlandville court appearance this morning. The report notes that Morris has two unrelated arrests that are “still open.”

As for the other individual who fled the scene, the county sheriff’s office is asking those with information on his whereabouts to contact Sgt. Timothy Jones at 607-758-5537.

The report notes that the investigation is ongoing. State Police, New York Forest Rangers and the City of Cortland K-9 Unit have been assisting the county sheriff’s office in this investigation.
