An area of low pressure moving north into New England will team up with a broad area of unsettled weather to bring another chance for showers and storms to the area today.

Rain showers will be possible at almost any time today, but the afternoon hours will definitely have more rain than any other time period.

Scattered to numerous showers and storms will develop this afternoon and move from north to south. Some localized downpours will be possible, but no severe weather or excessive rain is expected.

Outside of the showers and storms, sunshine will be minimal, limited to just a few brief glimpses here or there between the clouds.

Temperatures this afternoon will work their way into the upper 70s. A few places may hit 80 degrees. Dewpoints will be in the low 60s, so it will feel a touch muggy, especially to those sensitive to the humidity.

Showers will diminish this evening as the daytime heating is lost. A few stray showers may linger overnight, but most of the time will be dry. A few pockets of dense fog could develop, especially in areas that see downpours late in the afternoon.

Evening temperatures will fall through the 60s with an overnight low in the upper 50s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Sun and clouds. A few stray showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Small chance for a late shower or storm. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Sunday: Scattered showers and storms. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
