A wet Labor Day is ahead for Cortland County as a slow moving front creeps southward through the region.

Rain moved in overnight and will continue off and on through much of the day. There will be some breaks from time to time, but also some downpours.

The rain is likely through this morning, but the afternoon is a bit less clear. There is a small chance that the front will move far enough south quick enough to end the rain during the afternoon.

More likely, at least scattered showers will persist, if not periods of steadier rain.

The evening has the best shot at drying out, but a few stray showers will still be possible.

With the front overhead, winds will remain nearly calm. What slight breeze there is will fluctuate from the northeast, east, and southeast, depending on the wobbles of the front.

Temperatures will not rise much, topping out around 70 degrees. Evening temperatures will fall to the low and mid 60s. Some areas of fog will be possible.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Tuesday: Cloudy. A few scattered showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Sunny with a few clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sunny with a few clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
