High pressure will finally build in today, resulting in a transition towards sunnier weather.

First, though, there will still be a little lake effect to deal with this morning.

North-northwest winds between the high to the west and the departing low pressure system to the northeast will continue to pick up moisture from Lake Ontario.

Clouds and some spits of rain are likely this morning, followed by a gradual increase in sunshine this afternoon. The sun could take quite a while to make it through the clouds for some areas.

Eventually, though, the high pressure will win out and skies will be clear by this evening.

The northwest winds will blow at speeds greater than 5 mph, but less than 10 mph. Top gusts on the day should be just over 20 mph. Tonight, the wind will become calm.

Afternoon high temperatures will once again be locked into the mid 50s. Temperatures will drop rapidly tonight, quickly entering the 30s.

Mid or even pockets of low 30s are expected overnight, leading to widespread frost and localized freeze conditions throughout the county.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Sunny with some late clouds ahead of the remains of Hurricane Ian. Morning lows in the low and mid 30s with widespread frost. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Saturday: Overcast skies. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.
