Cortland County High School Sports Recaps (October 1st)

Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday’s events:

Varsity Boys Soccer: Cortland vs. Homer

The Homer Trojans defeated the Cortland Tigers with a close score of 1-0 at Homer High School on Saturday.

With this result, Homer improved to a 5-3-2 record, while Cortland fell to 2-10. 

Homer was led by Lance Heyer (1 goal), Kyler Crump (1 assist), and Braydon Fox (6 saves). 

Cortland was led by Paul Hansen (5 saves). 

Up next, Homer will play Solvay on the road this Tuesday (October 4th) at 5:30pm, while Cortland takes on Fulton on the road on Tuesday (October 4th) at 7pm. 

Varsity Boys Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. DeRuyter

The Cincinnatus Lions tied 3-3 against DeRuyter on Saturday. 

Cincinnatus was led by Dominick Landers (3 goals) and John Schuyler (3 assists). 

DeRuyter was led by Andrew Glisson (3 goals), Ryder Forrest (2 assists), and Donald Chapman (1 assist). 

With this result, Cincinnatus currently holds an overall record of 5-4-1. 

Cincinnatus’ next game is scheduled to be played on the road against Otselic Valley this Tuesday (October 4th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cortland vs. Homer

The Homer Lady Trojans and the Cortland Lady Tigers tied 1-1 on Saturday. 

With this result, Cortland now holds a 2-6-1 record, while Homer holds a 3-6-2 record. 

Note: Stats of the game were not available by the time this article was written. 

Up next, Cortland will host Auburn on Monday (October 3rd) at 5pm; while Homer takes on McGraw at home on Monday (October 3rd) at 5:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. DeRuyter

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions defeated DeRuyter 3-0 in order to improve their unbeaten record to 10-0. 

Cincinnatus was led by Kyla Sustad (2 goals), Mandi Waltz (1 goal), Peyton Stith (1 assist), Cassia Schuyler (1 assist). 

DeRuyter was led by Shakiah Glisson (12 saves) and Abby Stanton (8 saves). 

Cincinnatus will now host Otselic Valley on Tuesday (October 4th) at 4:30pm. 

Varsity Field Hockey: Homer vs. Cato-Meridian

The Homer Field Hockey team lost a close game against Cato-Meridian with a score of 0-1. 

Homer was led by Payge Romano (2 saves) and Aislynn Cobb (1 save). 

Cato-Meridian was led by Morgan Janas (1 goal) and McKena Morsdorf (2 assists). 

With this loss, Homer has fallen to an overall record of 1-8-1. 

Up next, Homer will play Cazenovia at Homer High School on Saturday (October 4th) at 7pm.
