The second seeded Homer Trojans defeated third seeded Camden in the semifinal round of the Section III Class B Playoff Tournament Friday night.
Homer won the game with a score of 64-40 at Homer High School. This was Homer’s last home game of the season.
It was a close game in the first half, with the score tied at 28. Homer was able to turn things around in the second half, and come up with the win.
“We were even in every way possible,” said Homer Head Coach Gary Podsiedlik.
“Our kids’ conditioning and commitment to trust each other turned the game in the second half,” added coach Podsiedlik.
Homer’s points were scored by Sam Sorenson (5 rushing touchdowns & 2 two-point conversions), Tyler Riehlman (1 fumble return touchdown), Wyatt Wilbur (1 rushing touchdown & 1 interception return touchdown), Hunter Riehlman (1 rushing touchdown), and Laramy Velazquez-Ramires (6 extra point kicks).
Sorenson led the Trojans’ offense with a total of 385 rushing yards.
When asked about how he felt about winning this important game, Sam Sorenson said, “It feels really good. It’s a little bitter sweet. It was my last game on our home field, but we’re moving on; and that is all I can ask for.”
Homer’s defense was led by Reid Partis (6 tackles & 1 interception), Isaiah McMahon (5 tackles), and Wyatt Wilbur (1 interception).

Homer will now look forward to defend their sectional crown against top seeded Indian River at the new JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse on Sunday (November 13th). The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3pm.
