Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Saturday’s events:

Varsity Wrestling: Homer vs. Multiple Schools (Cuneen Doane Holiday Tournament)

The Homer Trojans competed in the Cuneen Doane Holiday Tournament on Sturday where they placed 4th overall out of 16 teams. 

Here are some individual highlights from Homer: 

126: Hunter Lines

Varsity Indoor Track & Field: Homer vs. Multiple Teams (George Constantino Memorial)

The Homer varsity indoor track & field team competed in the George Constantino Memorial at Onondaga Community College Saturday afternoon.

Here are some highlights from both the Homer boys’ and girls’ teams: 

Homer Boys

  • Logan Darling won 1st place in the weight throw event (Result - 55’4.5”).  He also placed 7th in the shot put event (Result - 35’3.5”). Logan’s weight throw broke the school record. 
  • Jonah Campos placed 5th in the shot put event (Result - 38’ 1.75”)
  • Cooper Van Dee placed 5th in the 1,000 meter run (Time - 3:10.53). He also came in 8th place in the 600 meter run (Time - 1:35.04)
  • Damian Brown placed 6th in the 1,000 meter run (Time - 3:12.11)

Home Girls

  • Camdyn Cole won 1st place in the long jump event (Result - 15’10”). Her jump qualified her for sectionals and the state qualifier 
  • Jane Gugerty placed 2nd in the 55 meter hurdles (Time - 9.56) and 3rd in the triple jump event (31’3.25”)
  • Emma Effinger (72.5), Ingrid Aagaard (68.3), Caitlin McCloy (71.2), and Jane Gugerty (67.3) placed 2nd in the 4 x 400 relay with an official time of 4:39.51.
  • Maggie Mahunik (3:12.7), Mia Knight (3:11.6), Brynn Loomis (3:24.2), and Haley Tucker (3:13.1) took 5th place in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 13:01.69
  • Emma Effinger placed 6th in the 600 meter run (Time - 1:58.37) 
  • Hannah Bouwens placed 7th in the weight throw event (Result - 26’ 5”).

Varsity Indoor Track & Field: Cortland vs. Multiple Teams (George Constantino Memorial)

The Cortland varsity indoor track & field team competed in the George Constantino Memorial meet on Saturday. The meet took place at Onondaga Community College.

Here are some highlights from both the Cortland boys’ and girls’ teams: 

Cortland Boys

  • Jack Phelan placed 2nd in the long jump event (Result - 19’05”) and the triple jump event (Result - 40’0”). He also placed 3rd in the 55 meter dash (Time - 6.96)
  • Duncan Harbin won 1st place in the shot put event (Result - 41’05.25”). He also placed 3rd in the weight throw event (Result - 47’02.50”). 
  • Bryan Honan came in 2nd place in the weight throw event (Result - 48’2.75”). He also placed 3rd in the shot put event (Result - 39’03.25”)

Cortland Girls

  • Lillian Call won 1st place in the 600 meter run (Time - 1:40.0)
  • Olivia Magin came in 8th place in the 1,000 meter run (Time - 4:00.30)
  • Sarah Williams finished 7th in the 55 meter hurdles (Time - 10.61)
  • Morgann Doane placed 3rd in the long jump event (Result - 14’5.25”)
  • Maude Terwilliger came in 7th in the triple jump event (Result - 28’1.50”)

Varsity Indoor Track & Field: Marathon vs. Multiple Teams (Finger Lakes Invitational)

The Marathon varsity indoor track & field team competed in the Finger Lakes Invitational on Saturday. The meet took place at SUNY Cortland.

Here are some highlights from both the Marathon boys’ and girls’ teams: 

Marathon Boys

  • Robert Anderson came in 9th place in the 600 meter run (Time - 1:40.88)
  • Andrew Edsall came in 11th place in the 1,600 meter run (Time - 5:23.99)

Marathon Girls

  • Abigail Trabucco placed 3rd in the pole vault event (Result - 8’0”). She also came in 6th place in the 1,500 meter run (Time - 5:45.46)
  • Sophia Hansen placed 13th in the 600 meter run (Time - 2:11.74) as well as the triple jump event (Result - 25’04.05”)
