Another cloudy and cool day is ahead for Cortland County.

A few lingering snow showers will continue to be possible this morning. Over time, the chances for snow will gradually decrease and the flurries will cease.

Locally, a coating to a fluffy inch could accumulate this morning, but most areas will not see any notable accumulation.

Skies will remain cloudy throughout the afternoon with nothing more than a brief glimpse of sunshine here or there.

Winds will continue to be out of the northwest with speeds around or just over 5 mph. Late this afternoon, the wind will become mostly calm.

Afternoon high temperatures will top out around 30 degrees.

The clouds will start to gradually break up this evening and through the overnight. How cold it gets will depend on how fully skies clear.

If skies remain at least partly cloudy, temperatures will drop to but remain in the 10s. If they fully clear, pockets of single-digit temperatures are likely.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Wednesday: Some morning sun, then increasing afternoon clouds. Morning lows near 10. Afternoon highs in the mid 30s.

Thursday: Windy with early snow turning to rain. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Friday: Morning wind and rain, turning to snow as temperatures drop sharply. Morning temperatures in the upper 40s. Afternoon temperatures dropping through the 30s and 20s.

Saturday: Windy. Scattered snow showers possible. Morning lows in the upper 0s. Afternoon highs in the upper 10s.
