The Marathon Lady Olympians defeated Lansing 46-35 in the first round of the “Miss Holiday Hustle Tournament” at Marathon High School Tuesday night.

With this result, Marathon now holds an overall record of 4-4, and advanced to the final round of the tournament.

It was a close game at first with Marathon taking a 20-13 lead by the end of the first half.

The Lady Olympians were then able to make an 11-6 run in the third quarter to extend their lead to double digits.

Lansing would attempt to get back in the game, but Marathon stood strong in order to come out with the win.

“I thought Abby Ensign played her best game yet, she challenged the defenders going to the basket and hit threes when we needed them,” said Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan. “Anna Hoyt also hit some timely shots that really helped build our lead in the second half.”

Abby Ensign led the Olympians with 21 points in the game, while Anna Hoyt also added another 12 points on the scoreboard.

Lansing was led by Emma Best (14 points) and Emma Heasley (10 points).
