Sunshine and warm temperatures will increase across the area today.

High pressure over the Mid-Atlantic will be responsible for both factors today, though an area of low pressure moving into the Great Lakes will have its role to play, too.

A few early clouds will be possible before sunshine takes over fully. Mostly sunny skies are expected from the second half of the morning through the first half of the afternoon.

Late in the day, a new area of cloudiness will build in from the west. This will persist through the night, possibly accompanied by some spits of drizzle or some patchy fog.

South and southwest winds will blow gently with speeds near or under 10 mph. Top gusts on the day will be under 20 mph.

Afternoon highs will push into the mid and upper 40s. A few places cloud even flirt with 50 degrees. Evening temperatures will drop back into the mid 30s and remain there through the overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Clouds, a little sun, and a few rain showers. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Saturday: Cloudy with rain possible, especially in the afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.

Sunday: Scattered rain showers. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
