The Marathon Lady Olympians defeated Dryden 44-39 in order to win the “Miss Holiday Hustle Tournament” final at Marathon High School Wednesday night.
It was a slow start for both teams, as the first quarter ended with Marathon trailing 2-3.
Both teams were then able to get the jitters out of the way in the second quarter. Marathon would however outscore Dryden 18-11 in the quarter to get a 20-14 lead at halftime.
The game turned into an ongoing battle in the second half, but Marathon made the plays they needed to ultimately win the tournament.
“We played well on defense today, and made smart plays on offense to seal the tournament win against a good Dryden team,” said Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan.
With this win, Marathon improved their overall record to 5-4.
