Cortland County COVID-19 wrap-up for Wednesday, Jan. 4

Here is a breakdown of COVID-19 numbers in Cortland County from the past week. It is based on recorded information from the Cortland County Health Department and the New York State Department of Health.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported recently the level of COVID-19 transmission in the county is low. For the week of Dec. 26-Jan. 1, there were 46 positive cases and two hospital admissions (four hospitalized as of Dec. 30), but no new deaths.

As of Jan. 2, there have been 13,056 total positive cases, 852 hospitalizations and 133 deaths in the county. According to the state’s current COVID-19 tracker, the 7-day average for percentage who test positive and cases per 100K is 6.5% and 13.7, respectively.

The recent percentage of county residents fully vaccinated is 61.1%, and 60.7% of residents are fully vaccinated with a booster shot.
