Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:

Varsity Boys Wrestling: Cortland vs. Fulton

The Cortland Tigers lost 9-65 in a dual meet against Fulton Thursday evening. 

Here are the results from each of yesterday’s matches:

Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Hannibal

The Homer Lady Trojans lost a tough game against Hannibal on the road with a score of 52-65. 

However, even with the loss, Homer celebrated senior Catherine Apker after she scored her 1,000th career point at the game

During the game, Homer was led by Catherine Apker (22 points) and Madison Singleton (12 points). 

Hannibal was led by Samantha Emmons (28 points) and Tenly Baker (23 points). 

With this loss, Homer now holds a 6-9 record. 

Homer is scheduled to host Oneonta on Saturday (January 28th) at 12:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Cincinnatus vs. Stockbridge Valley

The Cincinnatus Lady Lions lost 27-35 against Stockbridge Valley at home Thursday night. 

With this loss, Cincinnatus has fallen to a 6-9 record. 

Cincinnatus was led by Justice Crane (16 points), Sidney Glover (4 points), and JuShawna Crane (4 points). 

Note: stats for Stockbridge Valley were not available by the time this article was written. 

Cincinnatus’ next game will be played on the road against Otselic Valley on Thursday (February 2nd) at 6pm. 

Varsity Girls Basketball: Marathon vs. Tioga Senior

The Marathon Lady Olympians beat Tioga Senior 57-36 on the road Thursday night. 

With this win, Marathon improved to a 9-6 record. 

Marathon was led by Abby Ensign (17 points), Addison Oram (12 points), and Anna Hoyt (11 points). 

Tioga Senior was led by Lily Mesler  (18 points) and Reese Howey (14 points). 

Up next, Marathon will host Union Springs on Tuesday (January 31st) at 7:15pm. 

Varsity Boys Basketball: Homer vs. Hannibal

The Homer Trojans defeated Hannibal 59-48 in order to improve to a 4-9 record. 

Homer was led by Wyatt Wilbur (22 points), Evan Butts (16 points), and Max Franco (9 points). 

Hannibal was led by Brady Kuc (24 points) and Cole Hess (9 points). 

Up next, Homer will host Skaneateles on Tuesday (January 31st) at 6:30pm. 

Varsity Ice Hockey: Cortland-Homer vs. Whitesboro

The Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles improved to a 12-2 record after beating Whitesboro with a score of 7-2 Thursday night. 

Cortland-Homer was led by Mitch Riter (2 goals & 2 assists), Andrew Partigianoni (2 goals & 2 assists), Chris Yang (3 assists), Cooper Swartz (1 assist), Hunter Everle (1 goal & 3 assists), Finn Thomas (1 goal), Tucker Gabriel (1 goal), and Garret Clark (8 saves).  

Whitesboro was led by Sawyer Michel (1 assist), Memphis Ferguson (1 assist), Gavin Aceto (1 goal), Kaeden Wood (1 goal), and Kristian Matthews (35 saves). 

Up next, Cortland-Homer will play Ithaca on the road tonight (Friday, January 27th) at 7:30pm. 

Varsity Girls Volleyball: McGraw vs. Brookfield

The McGraw Lady Eagles won in three sets against Brookfield on Thursday. 

With this win, McGraw improved to a 2-10 record. 

McGraw was led by Megan Stull (2 kills, 2 blocks & 3 aces), Madison Lawrence (2 kills, 3 blocks, 1 dig, 1 assist & 4 aces), and Madison Boyer (1 dig, 3 assists & 7 aces).

McGraw is now scheduled to play Faith Heritage on the road this upcoming Monday (January 30th) at 7pm.

The Cincinnatus Lions lost a tough match-up against Mount Markham in three sets. 

Cincinnatus was led by Colton Maroney (7 aces, 3 kills, 6 digs & 1 block), Dom Landers (6 assists, 2 kills, 6 digs & 1 ace), and Eli Cree (3 kills, 3 blocks & 2 digs).
