Man caught after fleeing store with items

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he fled a store with stolen items, according to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report stated that Nicholas F. Tomassetti, 27 of Binghamton, stole merchandise from the Price Chopper grocery store in the town of Cortlandville and fled the scene in his vehicle. 

Tomassetti was later located driving in Cortlandville, the report noted. He was charged with petit larceny (a Class-A Misdemeanor), second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (a misdemeanor) and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle (a violation).

Tomassetti was released and given appearance tickets, and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court at 1 p.m. April 17.
