The Homer Trojans fell to a 1-4 record after losing a close game to Union Springs with a score of 7-9 on Saturday.

“They (Union Springs) are a very good hitting team,” said Homer head coach Robert Nasiatka. “We left way too many on base and never came up with the Key hit when needed.  We left 10 runners on base and had one thrown out at the plate. A very bright spot was the 2 2/3 innings of relief by Andrew Kline. He kept us in the and shut them down.  I was very proud of the fight shown by the boys in the 7th. One hit and we pull that off. It is still very early in the season, so do not write our obituary yet.”

Homer was led by Maddox Johnson (1 run, 2 hits & 2 RBI’s), Anderson Read (2 runs & 2 hits), Mitchell Earle (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Eli McMahon (1 run, 1 hit & 1 RBI), Andrew Kline (1 RBI & 2 strikeouts thrown), Noah Young (1 RBI), Tyler VanEtten (1 run), Tristan Allen (1 run & 2 strikeouts thrown), and Graydon Hickey (1 RBI).

The Trojans are now scheduled to play Vernon Verona Sherrill at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex on Thursday (April 18th) at 6:30pm.
