The City of Cortland Department of Public Works (DPW) provided details on what streets will be milled and paved this summer.

According to deputy superintendent Bill Lund, city DPW will mill and pave 15 roads in Cortland. The milling will begin on May 22, and paving will tentatively start on July 10, Lund added.

The following streets in Cortland will be milled and paved this summer:

  • Arthur Avenue
  • Circle Drive
  • Cleveland Street
  • East Garfield Street
  • Front Street
  • Graham Avenue
  • North Franklin Street
  • North Street
  • Prospect Terrace
  • Argyle Place
  • George Street
  • Union Street
  • East Avenue
  • Lincoln Avenue
  • Faywood Avenue

New curbing will be installed on Arthur Avenue and the second half of Grant Street, Lund said.

Lund also noted that Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curbs and sidewalks will be installed at every crosswalk in Cortland. City DPW recently put out a request-for-proposals to companies to work on the ADA-compliant installations.

The overall cost of these projects, which Lund said will be covered by Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) funding, is $1.8 million.

Lund mentioned gas and water projects will take place at Arthur Avenue and Graham Avenue. The west end of Cleveland Street will soon need water main upgrades, he added.
