Tuesday’s budget vote, BOE candidate election details for county school districts

Each school district in Cortland County is set to have their respective communities vote on proposed budgets and Board of Education (BOE) candidates this Tuesday.

Below are details on the proposed budget and BOE candidates, and voting locations for each school district:

Cortland Enlarged City School District (CECSD)

Voting Locations (Tuesday, May 16 from noon to 9 p.m.): Kaufman Center (Cortland School District Office), 1 Valley View Drive; Cortlandville Municipal Garage, 3587 Terrace Road; Virgil Town Hall, 1176 Church Street

Proposed Budget: $54,508,998, with a 9.5% tax levy increase

BOE Candidates (3 candidates vying for 2 seats): Janet S. Griffin, Eileen C. Bentley and Lori J. Megivern

Homer Central School District (HCSD)

Voting Location (Tuesday, May 16 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.): Homer Training and Education Center (HTEC) at 80 South West Road

Proposed Budget: $47,195,532, with no tax levy increase

BOE Candidates (5 candidates vying for 3 seats): John Lawrence, Jessica White, Michelle Marshall, Louis Timothy Martin “Skeeter” and Meghan Gilbert

Voting location (Tuesday, May 16 from noon to 8 p.m.): McGraw High School at 10 West Academy Street

Proposed Budget: $16,282,995, with a $1.85% tax levy increase

BOE Candidates (3 candidates vying for 2 seats): Marisa Zogg, Darrin Osborne and Brian Holl

Marathon Central School District

Voting Location (Tuesday, May 16 from noon to 9 p.m.): Marathon junior-senior high school at 1 East Main Street

Proposed Budget: $21,198,785, with a 1.95% tax levy increase

BOE Candidates (5 candidates vying for 3 seats): Lucas Baker, Robert DePuy, Richard (Dick) Stearns, TeriAnn Montoya and Chelsea Skinner
