Orthopedist Blake Marson, MD, provides onsite evaluations and care
Cayuga Orthopedics Immediate Care in Cortland offers onsite walk-in appointments that include diagnosis and treatment of upper and lower extremity issues, injuries, fractures, arthritis, tendonitis, and bursitis. Casting services and equipment such as braces, boots, orthotics, crutches, and more are also available.

During his 30 years as an orthopedist, Dr. Marson focused his attention on the major surgeries of knee and hip joint replacement and reconstruction while providing general orthopedic care for broken bones, arthritis and wrist and hand injuries. The insights he gained from surgery provide broad experience in diagnosing orthopedic injuries, non-surgical treatments and surgical care when needed.
“Typically, patients want to be seen by an orthopedic specialist right away,” says Dr. Marson. “The idea of Immediate Care is for any patient to get the care they need at the very highest level for a variety of orthopedic problems.”
Early in his career, Dr. Marson worked at Level One trauma centers in Philadelphia, Boston, and Pittsburgh. He was chief of orthopedic surgery at the Southern Arizona Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Tucson and assistant professor of clinical surgery at the University of Arizona. Before joining Cayuga Orthopedics in 2016, Dr. Marson was an orthopedic surgeon practicing at hospitals in Cooperstown and Hamilton, NY and specializing in adult reconstructive care while also serving as a consultant on disability case reviews.
Those decades of surgical, teaching and consulting experiences provide him with a perspective on patient care that is now part of his practice as a non-surgical orthopedist at Cayuga Orthopedics in Cortland. As an orthopedist, Dr. Marson is at the beginning of the decision process for patients seeking treatment for muscle or skeletal issues. Injured patients get examined and evaluated at his 1122 Commons Ave., Cortland office. Treatment can often start on the same day as the first visit. If surgery is needed, an appointment with a Cayuga Orthopedics surgeon is made, and Dr. Marson’s work-up on the patient reduces the time before an operation is scheduled.
