Poor air quality from Canadian wildfire smoke and a high risk for brush fires will again be the primary focus in the weather today.

Northerly flow on the backside of a stalled out low pressure off the coast of New England is transporting Canadian wildfire smoke on a direct line into our region.

The smoke will cause poor air quality and will be especially thick today. Behind the veil of smoke, however, skies will be clear, and some sunshine will filter through.

It will be another very dry day with dewpoints only in the 20s. Afternoon highs will be in the mid and upper 60s, partially held back by the thick smoke.

This will yield relative humidity values under 30 percent once again, keeping the risk for brush fires high.

Northwest winds will blow at just over 10 mph today with gusts approaching 30 mph. These winds will help any fires that spark to quickly spread.

Clear but smoky skies will persist overnight as evening temperatures drop into the upper 40s. Overnight lows will end up in the mid 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Thursday: Clouds, sun, and scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs around 60.

Friday: Clouds, sun, and scattered showers. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Sunday: Clouds, sun, and scattered showers. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
