Man charged with stealing county-owned property

A man has been charged for allegedly stealing Cortland County-owned property, according to a report.

The County Sheriff’s report stated that David A. Clay Jr., 52, of Cortland, allegedly stole county-owned property between May and the beginning of June this year.

Clay was arrested on Monday and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny (a Class-E Felony). He was released and now due to appear in Cortland city court at 9 a.m. June 26.

The county sheriff’s office declined to comment on what was stolen. Further details beyond the initial report were not provided.
