The Cortland Police Department provided a monthly report on arrests in the city at the Police Commission meeting on Thursday.
According to the report, 393 arrests have been made from the beginning of January to the end of May this year. This number is five less than the arrest count at the end of May 2022 (398).
A breakdown of numbers show 252 misdemeanor arrests, which is 43 more than the number in May 2022 (209). Felony arrests are at 53, which is 22 less than last year’s count in May (75).
Violations, tallied at 88 for the end of May this year, is 26 less than the number shown for the end of May 2022 (114).
Total arrests in terms of driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving under the influence (DUI), infractions and violations compiled to 1,014 in a five-month period this year. This figure is 341 less than the year-to-date count (1,355).
