A hospital employee has been accused of taking inappropriate photos of a patient, according to a report.

The City of Cortland Police Department report stated that officers investigated a complaint from the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.

According to the report, Matthew C. Ulbing, 34, of Cortland, allegedly took inappropriate photos of a patient with his cell phone. The report continued by saying that photos were taken without the consent of the patient.

Ulbing was arrested on Tuesday and charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance (a Class-E Felony). He was processed, released and now due to appear in Cortland city court on July 10.

Guthrie provided a statement on Ulbing’s arrest:

“On Tuesday, Guthrie was made aware of a situation at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center and took immediate action. The individual is no longer employed by Guthrie. As with any personnel matter, we are unable to comment further.”
