Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, July 13, 2023:

A frontal boundary will continue to wobble across the region today.
This morning, the front has lifted back to the northwest. A stray shower cannot be totally ruled out early this morning as some energy moves along the front, but the bulk of the rain will be far to the northwest.
Much of the day will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Southerly winds will blow with light speeds around 5 mph.
The south winds will bring heat and humidity back into the area. Highs will be in the mid 80s with low 80s in a few of the higher elevations. Dewpoints will rise to the mid and upper 60s.
This will create an unstable environment as the front moves back southeast late this afternoon and this evening.
Scattered showers and storms will first become possible after 5 PM. These storms may build into a line or two, which could bring some widespread rain to the county.
Winds above the surface will be moderate and favorable for storm organization and strengthening. Isolated damaging thunderstorm winds will be possible, especially if one or more lines become well developed before moving east early this evening.
Some additional showers, and maybe a thunderstorm, will be possible through the evening and into the overnight. Skies will be rather cloudy, but some clear breaks will be possible, especially after midnight.
It will be another warm night with evening temperatures slowly approaching 70 degrees with overnight lows in the mid 60s.
