Most of today will be quiet as high pressure retains control of the region. However, late in the day, that control will start to slip away.

Localized areas of fog will burn off quickly this morning, leaving sunny skies for the rest of the day. Fair weather clouds will mix with the sunshine as usual.

Late in the afternoon, a few scattered thunderstorms may develop across the region. A few of these may make it into Cortland County. While some heavy downpours and blustery winds will be possible, the overall threat of severe weather and flooding is minimal.

The chance for showers and thunderstorms will continue into the evening and overnight hours. Some areas may get through the overnight without any rain at all, though.

Temperatures will be warmer than yesterday with an increase in humidity through the afternoon. Look for highs to reach the low and mid 80s with dewpoints climbing into the 60s.

Winds will be light from the south with speeds around 5 mph. The wind will turn to the southeast this evening with a slight increase in speed.

Evening temperatures will stick to the mid and upper 60s with overnight lows in the low 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Maybe an early shower. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower or storm. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
