After Saturday’s Pride Festival, the city looks to change event request process (Video & audio included)

Cortland officials will look into the event request process following the first-ever Cortland Community Pride Festival on Saturday.

This comes after some residents protested the all-age drag show at the festival. This followed with individuals, for and against the all-age drag show, engaging in the privilege of the floor portion of Tuesday’s Common Council meeting.

Below is a video of privilege of the floor from Tuesday’s meeting. In order, the following individuals spoke for public comments:

  • Luke Stevenson, the Emergent Party’s mayoral candidate for the city of Cortland (Starts speaking at 14:54)
  • Scott Heath, resident of Cortland County (Starts speaking at 18:33)
  • Sydney Dawson, protestor at the festival and resident of Cortland County (Starts speaking at 19:20)
  • Lawrence Wilde, resident and SUNY Cortland student (Starts speaking at 20:42)
