Representatives of Byrne Dairy and Cortland officials convened for the ribbon cutting of Byrne Dairy’s new 4,232-square-foot store in the city on Tuesday.

Located at 224 Port Watson St., the store officially opened its doors last Wednesday (July 19).

The store, open 24 hours per day and seven days per week, will include four gas pumps and eight fuel stations. It will also have 25 parking spaces at the location.

“We feel that this side of the city is underserved,” Byrne Dairy vice president Christian Brunelle said. “Over here, there’s nothing 24 hours.”

Byrne Dairy, who broke ground on the Cortland store last fall, has been looking “for years to try and find the proper site,” Brunelle continued.

Brunelle also noted Byrne Dairy’s store in Cortland is “the same model as” the one in Homer.

“We’re going to stick with the same thing,” Brunelle said.

Referring to the dairy processing facility in the town of Cortlandville, Brunelle noted that all of Byrne Dairy’s products are local.

“Everything is made locally within Syracuse or Cortland,” Brunelle said.
