There will be two ways today could go, thanks to the remnants of a thunderstorm complex from the Upper Great Lakes overnight.

The leftovers of this complex may spread a few showers into the area during the early and mid morning hours. These showers should be scattered and light.

From there, it all depends on cloud cover. If skies are able to clear out, some additional showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon.

Any storms that are able to develop will have the potential to become strong to severe with hail and strong winds.

Alternatively, and probably more likely, will be cloudier skies that suppress storm growth. A few afternoon showers and maybe a storm would still be possible, but these would be weaker and more isolated.

There is a fine line between an active afternoon and a benign one, so be sure to have a way to get updates should the weather turn stormy.

Temperatures will be in the mid 80s this afternoon with dewpoints at or above 70 degrees.

Winds will be on the blustery side, with southwest winds of 10-15 mph and gusts around 30 mph, independent of any thunderstorm winds.

Skies should turn mostly clear tonight and winds will quickly become nearly calm. Some patchy fog may develop, particularly if it does rain during the afternoon.

Overnight lows will end up in the mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the morning. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs near 80.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a morning shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sun, clouds, and a few stray showers. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
