A man was arrested on a warrant over the weekend that stemmed from a stolen check incident in May (2023), according to a report.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report stated that on May 5, officers investigated a report at a financial institution in the town of Cortlandville.
According to the report, Matthew S. Clark, 36, of Cortland, conspired with another individual in the passing of a stolen check.
Clark was arrested on a warrant on Saturday (July 22) and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (a Class-D Felony), and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy (all Class-A Misdemeanors).
Clark was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court next Wednesday (Aug. 2). The report stated that at the time of Clark’s release, the co-conspirator had not been arrested on a warrant.
