Hot temperatures will be the main weather story today.

High pressure over the Mid-Atlantic region will keep our weather quiet today will also pushing warmer temperatures into the region.

Southwest winds will blow lightly but steadily through the day with speeds around 5 mph.

These winds will help push temperatures to around 90 degrees this afternoon.

Aiding the temperatures along will be plenty of sunshine. Only a few small fair weather clouds and some occasional high, thin clouds are expected. No rain will fall during the daytime hours.

Dewpoints will generally stick to the 60s, so the heat index should not be too far off from the actual temperature.

Skies will start clear tonight with temperatures slowly dropping into the 70s. During the overnight, clouds may increase and some showers leftover from thunderstorm complexes may pass through.

Low temperatures will reach the mid and upper 60s by Saturday morning with the chance for showers and thunderstorms continuing into the daytime hours.

Here is a look at the weather for the next few days:

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the morning and midday. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray shower. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Sun, clouds, and a few scattered showers. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
