SUNY Cortland alum headlines UFC 292 this weekend

SUNY Cortland alumnus Aljamain Sterling will headline UFC 292 this Saturday at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Sterling (Jamaica), the current holder of the bantamweight division belt, will face second-ranked Sean O’Malley (United States) in a title bout main event.

A full breakdown of UFC 292’s main card can be viewed by clicking here. Sterling’s fight against O’Malley will be televised on ESPN-plus through pay-per-view. The main card begins at 10 p.m.

The last time Sterling fought was in UFC 288 this past May. Facing Henry Cejudo, Sterling won by split decision. The victory for Sterling improved his career record to 23-3 and also broke the UFC bantamweight record for title defenses (3).

Sterling has won his last nine UFC fights. He has not lost since December 2017 against Marlon Moraes (knockout by knee).

O’Malley goes into Saturday’s main event against Sterling with an 11-1 mark. Winner of four-straight matchups, O’Malley last fought on Oct. 22, 2022. He defeated Petr Yan by split decision.
