Multiple water disruptions in the city of Cortland have been scheduled this week.

According to Crown City Rising, the water disruptions this week are due to construction crews tying new water mains to the existing infrastructure in downtown Cortland.

The week laid out for construction crews is as follows:

  • Monday (Aug. 21) – Water service will be off for properties on the east side of Main Street from Clinton Avenue to Central Avenue
  • Tuesday (Aug. 22) – Central Avenue (between Main Street and Church Street) will be closed to traffic from 6 to 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday (Aug. 23) – Water service will be disrupted for properties on Central Avenue (from Main Street to Church Street). Central Avenue will also be closed. Work is expected to run from 6 to 11 a.m.
  • Thursday (Aug. 24) – Water service will be disrupted for properties on the east side of North Main Street (between Clinton Avenue and Lincoln Avenue). This work will go from 6 to 11 a.m.

Flaggers and signage will be present at these locations, as work will require lane closures throughout the week. Drivers are reminded to use caution as they drive through construction zones.

Projects on Main Street is the city’s continuation of its Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) projects. Cortland started working on projects last year.
