A crash involving a motorhome on Interstate 81 took place over the weekend, according to a report.

The New York State Police report stated that troopers responded to the crash that occurred on Saturday (Aug. 19) around 2:10 p.m. in the town of Cortlandville.

According to the report, Anthony M. Cisela, 78, of Bernhards Bay, was traveling north on I-81 near milemarker 54. The area was just before exit 12 in Homer.

Cisela traveled off the roadway, went through the glass, struck a bridge, and “came to rest” on the hill under the bridge, the report continued. The impact of the crash split the motorhome in two pieces.

The report added that initial calls to 911 stated that the motorhome fell off the bridge over I-81. Those reports, however, were false.

Cisela was transported by TLC Ambulance to Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse to be treated for lower-body injuries. The report noted that no one else was inside the vehicle.
