A local woman is facing charges for injuring animals, according to a release.

An Aug. 21 release from the Cortland County SPCA law enforcement department stated that Kristina L. Sunshein, 37, of the town of Cortlandville, has been charged with:

  • Three counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals
  • Failure to provide sustenance
  • And failure to provide necessary veterinary care

Back on Aug. 11, Sunshein was previously charged with five counts of failure to provide food and drink to an impounded animal; a count apiece of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; and failure to provide sustenance. These charges are related to conditions of care and failure to provide necessary veterinary care, the report noted.

Sunshein was arraigned in Cortlandville town court. She is due to reappear in court on Aug. 28.

The investigation is ongoing.
