County Sheriff’s Blotter: Obstruction of breathing, criminal contempt and more

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office recently released arrest reports that included charges of obstruction of breathing, criminal contempt and more.

Albert M. Thompson

Thompson, 66, of the town of Cortlandville, was arrested on Wednesday (Aug. 30).

The county sheriff’s report stated that officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Tuesday (Aug. 29) at a residence on McGraw Marathon Road in the town of Cortlandville.

According to the report, a female victim told authorities that on the night of Monday (Aug. 28), Thompson allegedly “strangled her after an argument.”

Thompson was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned, processed, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Sept. 13.

Ereik R. Alexander

Alexander, 27, of Cortlandville, was arrested on Tuesday (Aug. 29).

The county sheriff’s report stated that Alexander allegedly violated an order of protection while in the presence of a protected party at a residence in Cortlandville.

Alexander was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned, released and now due to appear in Cortlandville town court on Wednesday (Sept. 6).

Darrell A. White and Olivia M. Caggiano

White, 23 of the town of Bayshore, and Caggiano, 21 of Cortland, were arrested on Monday (Aug. 28).

The county sheriff’s report stated that White and Caggiano allegedly stole merchandise from the Walmart store in Cortlandville.

White and Caggiano were charged with petit larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy (both misdemeanors). Both were processed, released and now due for arraignment in Cortlandville town court on Sept. 11.

Katilynn M. Matthews

Matthews, 27, of Cortlandville, was arrested on Tuesday (Aug. 29).

The county sheriff’s office report stated that officers investigated a trespass complaint at a residence in Cortlandville. Matthews allegedly, and intentionally, provided false information to officers, which “interfered with the investigation,” the report noted.

Matthews was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a Class-A Misdemeanor. She was issued a ticket for a Cortlandville town court appearance on Sept. 11.
