Varsity Football: Cortland vs. Dryden

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost their first game of the season with a close score of 14-20 Friday night.
Cortland was led by Wyatt Tinker (2 rushing touchdowns & 40 rushing yards), Gage Burlingame (109 rushing yards), Logan Griffin (18 tackles), and Quinn Woodard (14 tackles, 1 sack & 1 blocked punt).
Dryden was led by Jayceon Miles (2 receiving touchdowns) and Brenden Williams (1 rushing touchdown).
The now 0-1 Purple Tigers will look forward to playing on the road against South Jefferson on Friday (September 8th) at 7pm.
Varsity Volleyball: Homer vs. Fulton

The Homer Lady Trojans lost in four sets against Fulton, bringing their record down to 1-1 on Friday.
Homer was led by Mackenzie Hubbard (12 kills, 4 digs & 4 assists), Lilly Sorenson (6 kills, 8 digs & 11 assists), and Mallory Douglass (1 kill, 15 digs & 1 ace).
Fulton was led by Natalie Frost (20 kills, 1 block, 9 digs, 1 assist & 3 aces) and Alaynna Dashnau (2 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, 33 assists & 3 aces).
Homer’s next game will be played at home against Phoenix on Tuesday (September 5th) at 6pm.

The Homer Trojans improved to a 2-0 record after beating Groton 5-0 at home Friday evening.
Homer was led by Ian Small (3 goals), Kyler Crump (1 goal & 2 assists), Laramy Velasquez-Ramirez (1 goal), Dominick Rosato (1 assist), and Oliver Kida (1 save).

Varsity Boys Soccer: McGraw vs. Edmeston

The McGraw Eagles fell in the final round of the McGraw Boys Soccer Tournament against Edmeston with a score of 0-4.
Edmeston’s goals were scored by Gavin McEnroe (1 goal), Izek Richards (1 goal), Braymon Clark (1 goal), and Brock Redner (1 goal).
The now 1-1 McGraw Eagles will look to bounce back in their next game against Remsen on Thursday (September 7th). The game will be played at the Bennett St Soccer Field in McGraw at 4:30pm.
Varsity Boys Soccer: Marathon vs. Odessa Montour Central (OMC)
The Marathon Olympians beat Odessa Montour Central (OMC) with a final score of 16-0 Friday afternoon.
Marathon was led by Bryce Hartman (4 goals & 2 assists), Aydan Brown (3 goals), Robbie Anderson (2 goals), Austin Poth (2 goals), Colton Howe (2 goals), Braydon Homer (1 goal & 2 assists), Camdyn Kashuba (1 goal & 1 assist), Eli Ticknor (1 goal), and Simon Donah (1 assist).
With this win, Marathon improved to an overall record of 2-0.
Marathon’s next game will be played on the road against Union Springs/Port Byron on Tuesday (September 5th) at 4pm.

The only goal of the game was scored by Homer’s Caitlin McCloy off an assist from Kennadie Taylor.
Homer goalie Alex Kellaway made 4 saves in the game.

Cincinnatus’ next game will be played in the “DeRuyter Girls Soccer Booster Blast Off Tournament” on Thursday (September 7th) at the DeRuyter high school main field. The tournament is set to begin at 3pm.

Varsity Field Hockey: Homer vs. Marathon
The Marathon Lady Olympians won a close matchup against the Homer Lady Trojans with a score of 1-0 at Homer high school Friday afternoon.
The only goal of the game was scored by Marathon’s Catherine Newkirk
Marathon goalie Cassie Forrest made a total of 3 saves in the game, while Homer goalie Aislynn Cobb made 7 saves.
With this result, Marathon improved to a 2-0 record, while Homer fell to 0-2.
Marathon will now look forward to playing Tioga Senior on the road this upcoming Wednesday (September 6th) at 4:30pm. On the other hand, Homer will look to get their first season win on the road against Weedsport on Wednesday (September 6th) at 4:30pm.
